Past Legion district commander to speak at Hartley program

American Legion Post 288 will hold its annual Memorial Day service on May 29 at Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. The service will begin at 9:30 a.m., at the cemetery memorial site.

This year’s keynote speaker is David Honse, Past Ninth District Legion Commander. All are welcome to attend the program, which will be held at the Hartley Community Center if inclement weather dictates poor outdoor conditions.

Clay County sheriff to speak at Everly program

Everly American Legion Post 414 will hold its Memorial Day program on Monday, May 29 at the Hap Ketelsen Community Center at 10 a.m. Keynote speaker will be Clay County Sheriff Chris Raveling.

All are welcome to attend.

Story time, game night at library

Hartley Public Library will be having a children’s story time on Monday, May 22, at 10:30 a.m.

The library will host a game night for adults on Tuesday, May 23, at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to enjoy a fun night of games and snacks.

2023 H-M-S softball season begins next week in Hartley

The softball season at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn is set to begin on Monday, May 22, when the Hawks host GT/RA. H-M-S’s baseball team will also host Ridge View that evening.

The baseball team will play GT/RA at Ruthven on May 18, and both squads will play MMCRU on May 24 at Remsen.

Food pantry at Hope Lutheran Church

Current hours for the food pantry at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly are Wednesdays, 1-5 p.m. Everyone is allowed to come in and pick out their food, but masks are required.

Monday, May 22: Breakfast – Cereal, fruit, juice; Lunch – Mini corndogs, baked beans, baby carrots, mixed fruit.

Tuesday, May 23: Breakfast – Egg and cheese on biscuit, fruit, juice; Lunch – Pizza, romaine salad, cherry tomatoes, pineapple.

Wednesday, May 24: Breakfast – Breakfast pizza, fruit, juice; Lunch – Crispito, lettuce/cheese, red peppers, green beans, grapes, bread (9-12).

Thursday, May 25: Breakfast – Waffles, sausage (9-12), fruit, juice; Lunch – Chicken strips, mashed potatoes, cooked carrots, pears, roll (9-12).

Friday, May 26 (Last Day of School): Breakfast – Donut, fruit, juice; Lunch – Elementary students need to bring a sack lunch; Grades 5-12 – Peanut butter/jelly, chips, carrots/celery, cucumbers, applesauce.

Milk is served with each meal. Fruit/veggie bar offered daily.
