Royal building to get new look

CC/E school board OKs window decal purchase

The Clay Central/Everly Elementary building in Royal will look quite different when students return to class in August.

The school board on May 24 approved the purchase of new window decals to be attached in various spots across the building. The decals allow for people inside to see out, but not people outside to see in.

Cost for the project, including installation, was pegged at $8,560 by Clarion-based SportsGraphics.

"Do the whole project," CC/E Assistant Superintendent Jeff Scharn told the board. "It comes in at a good price and will be a good beautification and safety project."

According to conceptual renderings submitted by SportsGraphics, the window decals will be placed at the main north entrance, area east of the main north entrance, west addition, west entrance and east entrance.

The board was pleased with the aesthetic improvement and safety aspect of the decals. Members approved SportsGraphics' bid on a unanimous vote.

"Those window wraps will definitely be helpful [with safety] because nobody can see in," said Director of Student Services Michelle Huntress.

Approval of annual sharing agreements topped the rest of the agenda. The bulk of the contracts were with the Sioux Central Community School District. CC/E will a pay a portion of each position's total contract, which includes salary, IPERS, FICA and insurance.

• Superintendent, 30 percent, $74,622.92. Once nine operational sharing credits are applied worth $7,227 each, CC/E's net cost to Sioux Central will be $9,579.92.

• Curriculum director, 20 percent, $6,000.

• Transportation director, 20 percent, $12,815.79.

• Nutritional director, 10 percent, $6,119.41.

• School business official, 30 percent, $26,053.88.

• Band/music director, 40 percent, $33,065.17.

• P.E. teacher, 22.5 percent, $12,893.06

Contracts with other districts, agencies and companies include:

• Nurse, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn CSD, 10 percent, no amount specified.

• IT services, Diane E. Ulrich Consulting, $55/hour, biannual agreement.

• Teacher librarian consultant, Prairie Lakes AEA, $4,000 annually.

The board also approved its whole-grade sharing agreement with the Spencer Community School District. According to Scharn, it will remain as it has in the past; however, CC/E will now be able to negotiate the terms of the agreement on an annual basis instead of every few years.
