O'Brien County Fair royalty court

Judging for the 2023 O’Brien County Fair royalty was held Sunday, June 4 at Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar. A panel of three judges reviewed the candidates, who participated in individual and group interviews.

This year’s queen candidates include: Kourtney Dekker, daughter of Kirk and Tina Dekker, of Sheldon; Whitney Einck, daughter of Heather and Tony Einck, of Primghar; Morgan Grooters, daughter of David and April Grooters, of Sanborn; Makenna Hofmeyer, daughter of Matt and Ashley Rinehart and Eric and Heather Hofmeyer, no town listed; Ellen Hunt, daughter of Steve and Julie Hunt, of Granville; Claire Wagner, daughter of Jim and Mimi Wagner, of Primghar; and Samantha Wilbur, daughter of Michelle and Randy Sohn, of Primghar, and Jason and Kris Wilbur. of Paullina.

King candidates include: Bryce Dodge, son of Mark and Sara Dodge, of Hartley; Justice Frerk, son of Rich and Alexis Frerk, of Paullina; and Jayson Stamer, son of Kevin and Karie Stamer, of Hospers.

Coronation will be held on Monday, July 24 at 8 p.m., at the Wayne Maass Memorial Stage on the fairgrounds in Primghar. Royalty will be crowned by 2022 Queen Grace Fuhrman, King Dain Moermond and Princess Makenzie Meyer.

The O’Brien County Fair runs July 22-27.
