Douglas D. Daggett, 62, Peterson

A funeral service for Douglas D. Daggett was held Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the Sanborn Funeral Home in Sanborn. Dr. Lynn Dau officiated. Sanborn Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.

Douglas Dean Daggett, son of Gary Lee and LaVonne Darlene (Vos) Daggett, was born in Sheldon on Aug. 9, 1960. He grew up in Sanborn along with his three siblings, having grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins nearby. He received his education at Sanborn Community School.

Doug was united in marriage to Sheila Ann Schwarzenbach on Sept. 21, 1991, at Lake Park. He was first employed at AMPI in Sanborn and then took a position with the Monfort Meat Packing Company at Worthington, Minn. He later returned to AMPI and eventually began working for Reitsma Construction, also in Sanborn. Being outside in the fresh air and sunshine, working hard and “building things” seemed to agree with Doug. He enjoyed living in his hometown, watching his kids and grandkids grow up in a great community.

Doug and Sheila moved to Peterson in 2015 to be surrounded by the great outdoors. More time was given to his two favorite pastimes, hunting and fishing. He was a longtime Pheasants Forever member and looked forward to the fall season.

Doug passed from this life on Friday, May 26, 2023, at the age of 62 years. He now joins his father, Gary Daggett, and brother, Duane “Dewey” Daggett, who both passed away in 2022; his grandparents: Frank and Sarah Daggett and John and Jessie Vos.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sheila, of Peterson; his children: Dustin Daggett, of Des Moines; Isaiah (Kristi) Daggett, of Sanborn; Meghan (Nick) Von Muenster, of Anamosa; Amber (Shawn) Dole and Tessa Daggett, both of Sanborn; 19 grandchildren; his mother, LaVonne Daggett, of Sanborn; sister, Debra (Fred) Glaze, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother, Dan “Chopper” (Linda) Daggett, of Milford; other relatives and friends.
