• Faces drug charges
A Clay County deputy checked on a stalled vehicle at 485th Street and Highway 71, on July 5. The report stated that while talking with the driver, Mazie Trumblee, 30, of Spencer, the deputy observed an open container of alcohol in the driver’s door. It is also alleged that Trumblee was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Trumblee was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana, a serious misdemeanor; and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, No Insurance and Open Container, all simple misdemeanors. She was held in jail to appear before a magistrate.
• OWI arrest
Paul Morony, 58, of Spencer, was stopped by a Clay County deputy for expired registration plates on July 4 in the 3500 mile of 200th Avenue. The report stated that Morony was allegedly intoxicated.
He was charged with OWI-1st offense and held in jail for his initial appearance before a magistrate. Morony was also cited for other driving infractions and given a warning for a violation of restricted license.
• Arrested on warrants
William Hotz, Jr., 45, of Peterson, was stopped by a Clay County deputy in the 3600 mile of 130th Ave. on July 2. There was a warrant for his arrest and he was also alleged to be fraudulently using someone else’s license plates.
Hotz was served the warrant for Theft-5th degree and also charged with Fraudulent Use of Registration, Operating without Registration and No Insurance, all simple misdemeanors. He was held on a $300 cash or surety bond with the ability to post 10 percent. Hotz was also held on a $615.63 bond on the charges.
Stella Gore, 44, was taken into custody at the Clay County Sheriff’s Office on July 1, on an active warrant for Failure to Appear for Judgement and Sentencing. She was held without bond for the Department of Corrections to serve a five-year prison sentence on the original charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance-3rd, a class D felony.
• Injured in Minnesota accident
Michael David Smith, 59, of Everly, was injured in an accident which occurred on July 8, in Jackson County, Minnesota. The Minnesota State Patrol reported that Smith was driving northbound on Highway 86 when his 1997 Buick Park Avenue went off the roadway and rolled into the ditch. Alcohol is believed to have been involved.
Smith was transported to Lakes Regional Health Care in Spirit Lake with life-threatening injuries. No other details were reported.
• Loses control on gravel road
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reported that a vehicle driven by Luis Roberto Salazar Roman, 17, of Paullina, was westbound on 470th Street on June 29. It appeared he lost control of the 2009 Chevrolet Impala, which began to fishtail. It entered the ditch and rolled.
Salazar Roman complained of pain or injury, but was not transported. Damage to the Impala was estimated at $2,500. He was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.
