A memorial visitation for Patty Sue Tesch will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly.
Patty Sue Tesch, the daughter of Tiny and Alice (Bundy) Blom, was born April 18, 1949 in Spirit Lake. Her childhood years were spent on the family farm southeast of Lake Park. She received her early education at Excelsior Township country school. After country school, Pat attended Harris-Lake Park Community Schools. In 1965, their family moved to Everly, where she later graduated from Everly High School in 1967. Patty attended and taught at Larson's Beauty School and after graduation started a salon in Everly.
She married Arvin Tesch on Oct. 27, 1968 in Everly. Following their marriage they moved to the family farm near Everly. They had one son, Travis, born in February of 1973. She was an active farm wife, helping as needed. She was the editor of The Everly-Royal News for 13 years and then worked as the CC/E High School secretary for 17 years.
Patty was an engaged member of the Everly community where she served on the city council for six years. She was a bowler, snowmobiler and an avid golfer and shared her passion of golf with her friends, traveling to many tournaments around northwest Iowa. In earlier years she and Arv and many friends went on numerous snowmobiling trips around the Midwest. Her family and friends were extremely important to her and she especially enjoyed her role as a wife, mom and grandma.
Patty passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at St. Luke's in Spencer at the age of 74. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tiny and Alice Blom, and younger brother, Tiny Blom, Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Arv Tesch, of Everly; son and daughter-inlaw, Travis (Annette) Tesch, of Everly; grandchildren: Tanner Tesch, McKenzie Reynolds, Kayla Reynolds and Paige Reynolds; brother and sister-in-law, John (Deb) Blom, of Manilla; sister in-law, Marlis Tesch, of Everly; brother-in-law, Orlyn (Leslie) Tesch, of Hartley; sister-in-law, Debbie (Don) Vagle, of Trimont, Minn.; many nieces and nephews; special cousins; other relatives and many friends.
