Harlan Goetsch honored for WWII service

Harlan Goetsch, 100, of Hartley, was acknowledged and honored on Aug. 4, for his service to the nation's Air Command and Merchant Marines during World War II.

The O'Brien County Veteran Affairs and Sanford Sheldon Hospice presented Goetsch with a certificate of appreciation, veteran service coins and a Quilt of Valor.

Goetsch's family would like to thank the Hartley American Legion members for attending; Susie Stanley and Sandy Nelson for making the quilt; Kendra Vander Lee, Eric Erickson, Chaplin Jordan Helming, and Laurie Vaneferin with Sanford Home Health and Hospice for helping to implement and organize this recognition event. Additionally, the family would like to thank all the aides, nurses, therapists and Janelle Patton for their loving care given to Harlan.
