Countdown to Everly Community Days

Saturday features full slate of events

With classes about to resume and the sun setting earlier each evening, Everly is gearing up for one last summer party this weekend.

Everly Community Days will be held Saturday, Aug. 12 and Sunday, Aug. 13. Like years past, the annual event yet again features a variety of attractions to entertain the masses.

Saturday's full schedule kicks off with Bossy BINGO and a vendor fair, which will be held at the Hap Ketelsen Community Center. Visitors are encouraged to come check out the spread and get a leg up on Christmas shopping three months early.

Also dotting the schedule Saturday morning is the Ping Pong Drop at Evertek and food trucks on Main Street. Kids games and free root beer floats will also highlight the list down at the park.

The afternoon features the popular Cookie Memorial Mini Golf Tournament. Registration will be held from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at 314 E 3rd St., with a shotgun start slated for 1 p.m. Participants will meander throughout town and try their luck at 18 different holes, with prizes set to be awarded at 5:30 p.m.

Prior to the mini golf tournament, The Ranch will host a bags tournament with registration starting at 11 a.m. Cost is $20 per team with 100 percent payout. Additionally, a kids' beanbag toss will be held at the Everly Heritage Museum at noon.

Saturday's slate wraps with a meal by the Everly Firefighter's Association from 5-7 p.m., followed by a street dance at The Ranch featuring The Remedy. The Iowa-based cover band performs a variety of classic rock and country favorites.

Everly Community Days concludes on Sunday with a community church service at the Hap Ketelsen Community Center at 9 a.m.
