Movie night at Neebel Park Sept. 15

The Hartley Parks & Rec board will host a movie night at Neebel Park on Friday, Sept. 15 at dusk. The evening has been made possible by grant funds that allowed the board to purchase a projector large enough to accomodate a crowd.

Pixar’s latest movie, Elemental, will be shown. See the ad on Page 4 for complete details.

Veterans welcome to ride in Clay County Fair parade

Monday, Sept. 11 is Veterans Day at the Clay County Fair in Spencer. All veterans that day will receive free admission to the fair.

There will be a veterans’ parade at 10 a.m. Merlyn Hennings will be pulling a trailer in the parade. Area veterans who wish to ride on the trailer should be at the staging area, north of the Events Center, by 9:30 a.m.

HLC food pantry

Current hours for the food pantry at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly are Wednesdays, 1-5 p.m. Everyone is allowed to come in and pick out their food, but masks are required.

Hunger Struck to visit Red’s Sept. 13

Hunger Struck will be serving food at Red’s Catering in downtown Hartley on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Events at Hartley Public Library

Story time at the Hartley Public Library will be held Thursday, Sept. 7, at 10:30 a.m.

Iowa State University Extension will present a program at the library on Thursday, Sept. 14, from 4-5 p.m.

Fall clean-up day is Sept. 18 in Hartley

Residents in Hartley will be able to get rid of a variety of items on Monday, Sept. 18 during the city’s fall clean-up day.

The city will pick up an equivalent of a two-yard dumpster free of charge per residence. Any additional trash will be charged on a pro-rated basis.

The city will also offer household hazardous material disposal on Thursday, Sept. 21. See the ad on Page 3 for more details.

Fire hydrants to be flushed in Hartley

Residents in Hartley may experience discolored water throughout the month, as city staff will be flushing hydrants.

Monday, Sept. 11: Breakfast – Cereal, pop tart (9-12), fruit, juice; Lunch – Chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, oranges, bread (9-12).

Tuesday, Sept. 12: Breakfast – Egg and cheese on biscuit, fruit, juice; Lunch – Barbecue pork on bun, baked beans, baby carrots, pears, chips (9-12).

Wednesday, Sept. 13: Breakfast – Breakfast pizza, fruit, juice; Lunch – Softshell taco, lettuce, cheese, red peppers, tomatoes, grapes.

Thursday, Sept. 14: Breakfast – Pancake and sausage bites, fruit, juice; Lunch – Chicken alfredo, breadsticks, broccoli/cauliflower, applesauce.

Friday, Sept. 15: Breakfast – Donut, fruit, juice; Lunch – Pork chop patty, mashed potatoes, cooked carrots, watermelon, bread (9-12).

Milk is served with each meal. Fruit/veggie bar offered daily.

Regular hours at Royal library

Hours at the Royal Public Library are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 3-5 p.m.; and Tuesday and Saturday, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
