The Everly Firefighter’s Association will hold its annual fall breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 29 at the fire station. A free will offering will be accepted.

Firemen to canvass Hartley Oct. 30
The Hartley Fire Department will canvass the town during the evening of Monday, Oct. 30 starting at 6 p.m., to sell tickets for their annual pancake breakfast on Sunday, Nov. 5.

Programs at Hartley Public Library
An after-school program will be held at the Hartley Public Library on Monday, Oct. 30, from 2-3 p.m. Kids ages 2-14 are invited to hang out with friends and do some new and fun activities.
HLC food pantry
Current hours for the food pantry at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly are Wednesdays, 1-5 p.m. Everyone is allowed to come in and pick out their food, but masks are required.
Trunkity Treat at Trinity UCC
Trunkity Treat will be held in the parking area of Trinity United Church of Christ on Sunday, Oct. 29, from 11 a.m.-noon. The church is located at 140 N 5th Ave. E, in Hartley.
Come dressed in your costume with your buckets. There will be decorated car trunks in the parking lot passing out candy and snacks.
Election Night soup supper at St. Joe’s
Don’t worry about cooking on Tuesday, Nov. 7 – St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hartley has you covered.

Movie night at Melvin FRC
The next movie night at the First Reformed Church in Melvin will be Sunday evening, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m. At that time the movie “Jesus Revolution” will be shown.
The movie is based on a true story that takes place in the 1970’s. At that time many young people were searching for all the right things in all the wrong places. A charismatic hippie street preacher comes along that is able to minister to these young people. They soon become a part of a struggling church that results in an unexpected revival leading to a Jesus Revolution that changed the world.
Refreshments will be served during a brief intermission.

Veterans’ dinner Nov. 12 in Royal
The Royal American Legion Auxiliary is hosting a dinner at noon on Sunday, Nov. 12, for all veterans and their families at the Royal Community Center. Everything is going to be provided, so come and enjoy a time of food and fellowship.

Grassley staff to hold local office hours
The staff of Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is holding traveling office hours in 18 Iowa counties from Oct. 23-Nov. 3, including some in northwest Iowa.
Iowans seeking assistance regarding a personal issue with a federal agency or wishing to share views on matters of federal policy may stop by during the scheduled hours. Grassley will be represented by his regional directors: Matt Rector of Waterloo, Rochelle Fuller of Cedar Rapids, Jonathan Bladt of Council Bluffs and Jacob Bossman of Sioux City. The senator will not be in attendance.
Grassley’s state offices regularly help constituents contact federal agencies to address problems with Social Security payments, military service matters, immigration cases, veterans’ benefits, IRS challenges and other issues. Iowans can also seek assistance via Grassley’s website.
