Valero donates $25K to local children's groups

3 groups benefit from company's annual giving event

Three Hartley-area programs were recent benefactors of generous contributions from Valero Renewables.

The Hartley plant donated to the H-M-S Kids Backpack Program, Grace Fellowship Community Preschool and H-M-S STEM Education. Funds were raised through the Valero Texas Open (VTO) and Valero Benefit for Children (BFC).

"Across the U.S., hundreds of BFC-recipient charities are positively impacting thousands of lives, and all for one purpose – to make a difference for children," said plant manager Kraig Kruger in a news release. "We're proud to partner with these agencies and work together to improve children's lives right here in Hartley."

Donation amounts were: Kids Backpack Program, $10,000; Grace Fellowship Community Preschool, $8,500; and H-M-S STEM Education, $6,500.

This year, the tournament and associated events, including the BFC, generated a record breaking $23 million in net proceeds for charitable organizations across the country. The tournament is ranked No. 1 once again on the PGA TOUR in charitable fundraising.
