Family and friends gathered at the American Lutheran Church in Melvin on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1959, for the wedding ceremony uniting Marlo and Wilma Jean Schaefer. He enjoyed caring for all growing things and found tending livestock to be a gratifying accomplishment.

Marlo was a lifelong member of the American Lutheran Church in Melvin and had belonged to the American Legion Post #470 for over 65 years. He had served as Post commander several times and acted as Sergeant at Arms for many years, calling out marching orders at the Memorial Day services held at Baker Cemetery near Melvin.
