Several open houses planned

Several Christmas open houses will held throughout the area over the coming week, including: United Community Bank and Fiesta Foods in Hartley, and Home State Bank in Royal.

Santa to visit Royal this Saturday

Royal Community Action and the Royal Lions Club will host a visit from Santa at the Great Hall of Royal on Saturday, Dec. 9 starting at 10 a.m. After sharing their wish lists with the jolly ol’ elf, children can stay for crafts and cookies. Santa will be in attendance until noon.

A soup and pie lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., for a free will donation. All money raised will go towards purchasing winter clothes for Clay Central/Everly children in need.

The Festival of Trees will run during the entire event.

December concerts at H-M-S

Students in grades 5-12 at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn will be sharing sounds of the season during concerts this month.

The high school band and choir will present their Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. in the new gym. A hot chocolate bar and cookies will be available following the concert.

The fifth and sixth grade band and general music students’ winter concert is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. in the middle school gym at Sanborn.

The final concert will feature the seventh and eighth grade band and choir on Tuesday, Dec. 19, also at 7 p.m. in the middle school gym.

Red’s Catering menu for Dec. 13

Red’s Catering in downtown Hartley will be serving several specials and a salad bar on Wednesday, Dec. 13. Also planned is a Christmas turkey dinner on Dec. 20 and special carryout meals and hours on Dec. 22.

Hartley snow ordinance reminders

The City of Hartley is reminding residents of snow removal and street parking ordinances during winter.

OC Board of Health seeking members

The O’Brien County Board of Supervisors is seeking individuals interested in serving on the county board of health. There are currently two seats with terms expiring at the end of this year.

Regular hours at Royal library

Hours at the Royal Public Library are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 3-5 p.m.; and Tuesday and Saturday, 9:30-11:30 a.m.

HLC food pantry

Current hours for the food pantry at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly are Wednesdays, 1-5 p.m. Everyone is allowed to come in and pick out their food, but masks are required.
