MMCRU tops boys' bowlers; Hawks defeat SB-L
The home alleys were conducive to good scores for the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn boys' bowling team, but they were not quite enough against a quality opponent.
The Hawks faced a good MMCRU team on Nov. 28. Results of the baker games helped give the Royals a combined total of 2,734 points. H-M-S finished with 2,574.
"We knew that MMCRU would be a tough opponent after seeing them last year," said Hawk coach Julia Meyer. "The boys started out strong with good singles games; however, our downfall was the baker games. We couldn't quite get any momentum and missed spares that cost us pin count. We are working on those areas and hope to keep improving the fundamentals."
Singles results were Eli Mastbergen 198-208 406, Graham Lux 191-171 362, Caleb Aaron 162-191 353, Jack Mastbergen 163-189 352, Dawson Niichel 134-180 314, and Riley Russell 159-124 283. Baker game totals were 158, 159, 165, 166 and 139.
Boys' JV singles results were Owen Tifft 202-160 362, Skyler Shaffer 141-177 318, Braden Niichel 165-136 301, Noah Niichel 129-146 275, Damian Dodge 156-117 273, Brett Stoltz 136-132 268, Moises Gonzalez 142-108 250, Aiden Nitzel 106-136 242, Ryan Grotluschen 114-127 241, Jackson Brower 101-139 240, Brennan Stoltz 114-106 220, Brenden Larson 116-84 200, and Hector Gonzalez 65-56 121.
