New hours at Fiesta Foods to start
Beginning on Monday, Jan. 29, Fiesta Foods in Hartley will be open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. all seven days of the week.
May City firemen hosting soup supper
The May City Fire Department will host its annual soup supper on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 5-7 p.m., at the fire hall. A vareity of soups will be on the menu.

ECHO Apartments in Everly will host its annual meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 6:30 p.m. The gathering will be held in the fire station meeting room.

Cocktails & Kisses at HKCC in Everly
The Hap Ketelsen Community Center in Everly will host “Cocktails & Kisses” on Saturday, Feb. 10. The event will feature special drinks and a meal.
Proceeds will benefit the HKCC and Everly Public Library. Tickets are available through any HKCC or library board member, or at the library, Everly City Hall and State Bank in Everly.

HLC food pantry
Current hours for the food pantry at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly are Wednesdays, 1-5 p.m. Everyone is allowed to come in and pick out their food, but masks are required.
First Eggs & Issues forum is Jan. 27
The Spencer Chamber will once again host three sessions with local state lawmakers during the 2024 legislative session. Constituents from around the region are invited to express concerns about legislation before these elected officials.
All forums are held from 9-10:30 a.m. in the Council Chambers of Spencer City Hall, 101 W 5th St. Dates this winter include: Jan. 27, Feb. 24 and March 23.
Invited to attend are local house and senate representatives along with state and national government elected officials.

Upcoming blood drive at Spencer
Recent winter weather has caused blood drive cancellations impacting the community blood supply. LifeServe Blood Center is urging community members to check out the drive scheduled on Monday, Feb. 5, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at 901 11th Street Southwest in Spencer.

Winter fun at Mill Creek Park Lodge
Winter fun will be featured on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Mill Creek Park Lodge near Paullina. You can enjoy inside and outside activities that include winter crafts, a campfire, popcorn, hot chocolate, ice fishing and snowshoes.
The event will run from 2-5 p.m. All ages are invited to this free come-and-go event. All supplies will be provided.
20x24 Exhibition by local artists at Arts on Grand
The current gallery exhibit at Arts on Grand in Spencer is a “20x24 Exhibition,” which celebrates the New Year.
The exhibition continues through Thursday, Feb. 22, with a free come and go open house at Arts on Grand on Saturday, Jan. 27, from 1-3 p.m.
Two artists featured in the exhibit are Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn graduate Meghan Flynn and Clay Central/Everly graduate Megan Wassom. Others featured are Tim Anderson, Estelle Buhr, Gary Hoard, Marie-Louise Kierscht, Jan (Turner) Manley, Hope McCormick, Theresa McKee, Diane O’Hern, Rosalise Olson, Brooke Peterson and Ferman Woodberry. The public is invited to support these talented local artists.
