Clay County Fair announces 2 Grandstand acts

The Clay County Fair this week announced two nights of Grandstand events as part of the SRG Concert Series for the 2024 Clay County Fair powered by SMU, Sept. 7-15.

• The Mavericks with special guest The Jorgensens: Monday, Sept. 9

The Mavericks, the eclectic rock and country group known for crisscrossing musical boundaries with abandon, has gone through three distinct phases since it was founded in Miami in 1989. An initial period of heady success marked by big hits and critical acclaim in the '90s. A long hiatus starting in 2003 when the musicians each went their own way. And finally, a triumphant reunion in 2012 which held long enough for them to recently celebrate the band's 30th anniversary.

Opening for the Mavericks will be the Jorgensens. Recognized by peers and critics as one of the Twin Cities' best original bands. They incorporate blues, soul, jazz and rock into a unique style they have coined as American soul. They have played countless shows and outdoor festivals and have multiple awards under their belt from the Minnesota Music Awards.

• Blues Traveler with special guest TBA: Friday, Sept. 13

Blues Traveler has released 14 studio albums and counting, four of which have gone gold, three platinum, and one six-time platinum – selling more than 10 million combined units worldwide.

Over an illustrious career Blues Traveler has played over 2,000 live shows in front of more than 30 million people, and in "Run-Around," had the longest-charting radio single in Billboard history, which earned them a Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. Blues Traveler's latest effort, 2021's Traveler's Blues, is nominated for a Grammy in the category of "Best Traditional Blues Album," bringing their 35-year journey full circle.

Tickets for both shows will go on sale Friday, March 1 at 10 a.m.
