The O’Brien Cooperative Funeral Association will hold its 96th annual meeting on Tuesday, March 19 at the Sanborn Christian School Auditorium.

Easter egg hunt at Sanborn FRC
First Reformed Church in Sanborn is hosting a community Easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 23. The church is located 522 Summit Avenue.
Children up to age 12 are invited to participate in the hunt, which begins at 10 a.m.

Iowa PBS program features Sheldon Ben Franklin
The Ben Franklin store in Sheldon will be featured in an upcoming episode of Iowa PBS’s “Iowa Life,” a magazine-style series uncovering the diverse tapestry of Iowa’s people, cultures and stories.
The episode will premiere Tuesday, March 19 at 6:30 p.m., and will be rebroadcast Sunday, March 24 at 10:30 a.m.
Five-and-dime stores were once abundant on main streets across America. In this episode, viewers will take a trip down memory lane while visiting the last Ben Franklin store in Iowa. The episode will also highlight a makeup and body paint artist and three pioneers in the world of girls’ wrestling.
“Iowa Life” explores the exceptional lives of the individuals who call Iowa home. Through compelling interviews, scenic visuals and authentic storytelling, the series shines a spotlight on the cultural gems and inspiring stories that make Iowa the fascinating place it is. Viewers will dive into the culture of our state and discover the extraordinary within the ordinary.

Food distribution at Trinity UCC
The Food Bank of Iowa’s mobile pantry program will be conducted on Wednesday, March 20, starting at 4 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley. The program is available free of charge and geared toward individuals in need of food assistance.
Participants are asked to stay in their vehicles and line up on the east side of the parking lot. The food will be brought to you as you drive under the canopy.

Upcoming blood drive at Spencer
Every two seconds, someone needs a lifesaving transfusion. LifeServe Blood Center is urging community members to give blood during the drive scheduled for Monday, March 18, from 1-6 p.m. at 901 11th Street Southwest in Spencer.

Hours at the Royal Public Library are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 3-5 p.m .; and Tuesday and Saturday, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
HLC food pantry
Current hours for the food pantry at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly are Wednesdays, 1-5 p.m. Everyone is allowed to come in and pick out their food, but masks are required.
Property tax installments due April 1
The second half installment of property taxes is due March 31. According to the Clay County Treasurer’s Office, since that date falls on a weekend property owners have until Monday, April 1, to pay without penalty at the office or payment must be postmarked by April 1.
In Clay County, payments may be made Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the office located at 300 West 4th Street in Spencer. Payments may be also made by mail or dropped off in the boxes on the north and south side of the Administration Building.
