A funeral service for Marlyn M. Pemble was held Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly. Pastor Mike Eeten officiated. Warner Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.
Marlys Marlene Pemble, the daughter of Robert L. and Luella F. (Kennedy) Marshall, was born Aug. 21, 1938, in Belmond. Her younger years were spent on various farms in the Klemme/Britt area. She loved life on the farm, except chicken chores! She loved her horse, Dolly.
Marlys graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1956. While in high school she was approached by the owners of the local beauty college. They thought she had what it took to be a successful beautician and offered her the opportunity to attend school free of charge. They knew what they were talking about, as she made many, many people look great in her 61-plus years behind the chair.
She moved to Estherville in 1957 to begin her career. It was there that she met the man who would capture her heart. After a whirlwind courtship, she and Charles “Chuck” Pemble were married on May 30, 1958 in Jackson, Minn. They lived in Estherville and Dubuque early in their marriage and moved to Everly with their four young children in 1966, and it was there they remained.
Marlys was a member of the United Methodist Church in Everly where she taught both Sunday school and Bible school. She also participated in several mission trips where she was able to share her faith. Her love of music, especially Neil Diamond, was evident by the number of CDs she owned and the number of concerts she attended. She loved going on nature drives and was an avid bird watcher. She convinced many people to become crazy bird people!
Marlys passed away at her home on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents and parents-in-law; her son, Charles; her sister, Marilyn; and her brother, Merle.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Chuck, of Everly; three children, Bob Pemble, of Littleton, Colo.; Joan (Kent) Kimball, of Everly; and Jim Pemble, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; six grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Angie Pemble, of Hermosa, S.D.; brother, Mike Marshall, of Loveland, Colo.; other relatives and many friends.
