Hawk girls finish regular season at Sioux Central

Senior Lexi Croatt again wins gold in 3000-meter run

The final girls’ regular season track and field meet featured solid performances by Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn athletes. Sioux Central hosted the meet on May 6.

Lexi Croatt earned another first-place finish in the 3000 meters (13:56.76), Hannah Tessum was runner-up in the discus throw (79’5-1/2”) and Alexis Grover placed fourth in the shot put (30’3”).

Other individual results were: 100 – Pamela Mutombo, sixth, :15.44; Megan Otto, 17th, :16.79. 200 – Mutombo, 10th, :32.76; Kynlee Dolphin, 18th, :36.41. 400 – Jocelyn Abonce, 10th, 1:11.90; Evelyn Steffen, 13th, 1:18.05. 800 – Abonce, seventh, 3:09.73. 100 hurdles – Jessica Diaz, 13th, :24.38. High jump – Otto, 12th, 4’4”; Long jump – Payton Diehm, eighth, 12’6”; Madi Lauer, ninth, 12’. Shot put – Tessum, eighth, 25’3”. Discus – Eliza Tewes, 12th, 53’8-1/2”.

Relay results included: 4x200 – Diehm, Otto, Lauer, Dolphin, ninth, 2:23.89. Sprint medley – Diehm, Steffen, Mutombo, Abonce, ninth, 2:14.36.

Points were awarded through eighth place. Not all events were held due to weather.

Team point totals were: Sioux Central 149, West Bend-Mallard 85, Alta-Aurelia 69, South O’Brien 64, Newell-Fonda 55, Pocahontas Area 53, H-M-S and Harris-Lake Park 30, and GTRA 13.
