IGLFC planning seminar for novice anglers June 4

The Iowa Great Lakes Fishing Club will host an adult fishing seminar for novice anglers on Tuesday, June 4 at The Loft at West O. Couples are welcome and encouraged.

A variety of topics will be discussed, and pizza and beer are included. Seating is limited. See the ad on Page 8 for more details.

Summer reading program at HPL

The Hartley Public Library is holding the following events in conjunction with the summer reading program.

Saturday, June 1: Playdoh Play Date, 10 a.m.

Monday, June 3: Portrait Printmaking, 11 a.m. Sign up for summer reading events all day.

Thursday, June 6: Sioux Falls Mobile Zoo, 12:15-1 p.m.

Summer programs offered by OBCC

O’Brien County Conservation is offering several programs and activities this summer for participants of all ages.

Join Naturalist Lindsey Kleinhesselink for Senior Environmental Learning & Fellowship (SELF) while enjoying coffee, treats and conversation. Dates for this short educational program are Wednesdays, June 12, July 10 and August 14.

Meetings will be held at Mill Creek Park Lodge at Paullina from 9:30-11 a.m. This program is free of charge and open to adults.

O’Brien County Conservation Summer Camps are also here. Join Kleinhesselink to participate in hands-on STEM education that emphasizes environmental learning experiences. Camps include “Polliwogs & Ponds,” “Prairie Exploration” and “Search for Spectacularly Slimy Species,” to name a few.

Both morning and afternoon sessions are open for youth in grades K-6. All camps offered are free to attend.

HLC food pantry

Current hours for the food pantry at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly are Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m. Everyone is allowed to come in and pick out their food.

Free fishing weekend is June 7-9

Iowa residents can try fishing without buying a license on June 7, 8 and 9 as part of the Iowa DNR’s free fishing weekend. All other regulations remain in place.

Free fishing weekend is a great time to share the fun of fishing with a kid, your family or a friend. Outdoor fun awaits at hundreds of Iowa lakes, thousands of miles of rivers or a neighborhood pond.

Regular hours at Royal library

Hours at the Royal Public Library are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 3-5 p.m .; and Tuesday and Saturday, 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Al Anon meetings

Al Anon meetings are held at the following locations each week:

Wednesday, 8 p.m., 511 Southmoor, Spencer; Thursday, 8 p.m., Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Royal; Sunday, 7 p.m., Sanford Medical Center, 118 N 7th Ave., Sheldon.
