• Driver attempts to elude police

Jairo Gavarette Ardon, 27, of Arlington, Minn., was arrested after a police chase near Sheldon on June 9.

The complaint states that several witnesses reported an erratic driver was southbound on Highway 60. Law enforcement located the vehicle which reportedly was speeding and swerving onto the shoulder and into the other lane. When police activated their lights and sirens, Gavarette Ardon allegedly attempted to flee at speeds at over 100 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Gavarette Ardon was arrested and charged with eluding at more than 25 mph over the speed limit, a class D felony, and also operating while under the influence and possession or carrying of dangerous weapons while under the influence, both misdemeanors. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 20.

• 2 women land in jail

Two women were arrested following a traffic stop on June 2 in the 4700 mile of Highway 71.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported a deputy smelled marijuana while approaching the vehicle. Carrey Ross, 27, of Ruthven, was allegedly in possession of cocaine, marijuana, oxycodone and drug paraphernalia. Additional marijuana was found during a search of the vehicle.

Ross was charged with possession of a controlled substance-cocaine, possession of a controlled substance-oxycodone, and possession of marijuana, all second offenses; and possession of drug paraphernalia, interference with official acts, speeding, no insurance and failure to display registration.

A passenger in the vehicle, Kallie Molacek, 25, of Estherville, was charged with possession of a controlled substance-marijuana. She and Ross were both booked into jail.
