Summer programs offered by OBCC
O’Brien County Conservation is offering several programs and activities this summer for participants of all ages.
Naturalist Lindsey Kleinhesselink will present free programs at O’Brien County campgrounds on Friday, June 28. She will be at Douma Park from 1-2:30 p.m.; Mill Creek Park from 3-4:30 p.m.; and Dog Creek Park from 5-6:30 p.m.
Join Kleinhesselink for a short educational program while enjoying coffee, treats and conversation. This program will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, at the Mill Creek Park lodge. This program is free of charge and open to adults.
Movie night at Melvin church
The next movie night at First Reformed Church in Melvin will be Sunday evening, June 30, at 7 p.m. At that time the movie “Courageous Legacy” will be shown.
The film is about four men who have one calling: To serve and protect. As law enforcement officers, they are confident and focused. Yet at the end of the day, they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood. While they give their best on the job, good enough seems to be all they can muster as dads. When tragedy hits home, they are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, their faith and their fathering.
“Courageous Legacy” will have viewers laughing, crying and cheering as they are challenged and inspired by everyday heroes who long to be the kinds of dads that make a lifelong impact on their children. Protecting the streets is second nature to these men. Raising their children in a God-honoring way? That’s courageous.
Refreshments will be served during a brief intermission.
HLC food pantry is each Wednesday
Current hours for the food pantry at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly are Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m. Everyone is allowed to come in and pick out their food.
