• Semi sideswipes semi

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reported that Brock Avery Heinis, 25, of Rock Valley, was eastbound on 400th Street at 7:12 a.m. on June 13. Heinis looked down at his speedometer as he was accelerating, and as he looked up his 2019 Freightliner sideswiped a 2005 Freightliner driven by Urledis Espinosa Guilarte, 44, of Schaller.

Neither driver was injured. Damage to the Freightliner driven by Guilarte was estimated at $6,000 and damage to the Freightliner driven by Heinis was estimated at $2,000.

• Rear-ends stopped vehicle

Lonnie Jay Jurrens, 62, of Sibley, was westbound on 320th Street at 12:54 p.m. on June 16, when he began slowing for a car waiting for oncoming traffic before completing a left turn onto Nettle Avenue. According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, Jurrens had almost come to a stop when his 2007 Dodge R15 was rear-ended by a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Riley Michael Davids, 27, of Melvin.

No injuries were reported. Damage estimates were $2,000 for the Silverado and $1,500 for the Dodge. Davids was cited for Following too Close.

• Driver fails to yield

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reported that Morgan Beth Keene, 38, of Hartley, was driving a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban northbound on Yew Avenue at 11:51 a.m. on July 19 Keene failed to yield to a 2006 Ford Taurus driven by Drulene Vee Meyer, 73, of Ocheyedan, which was westbound on 350th Street. The Taurus came into contact with the passenger side of the Suburban.

The report stated Keene complained of pain/injury and was transported to Spencer Hospital by Hartley Ambulance. Meyer and the passengers in the Suburban were not injured. Damage to the Suburban was estimated at $10,000 and damage to the Taurus was estimated at $4,000.

Keene was cited for Failure to Yield to Vehicle on Right.

• Garbage truck strikes vehicle

Jessie Ray Bernier, 35, of Spencer, was driving a 2015 Freightliner at 6 p.m. on June 26. He pulled into the opposite lane of Industrial Park Road in Primghar and began to back into a business driveway. The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office stated that Bernier failed to see a 2018 Hyundai Tucson driven by Michelle Lee Butcher, 42, of Sanborn, which was proceeding south in the correct lane. The front bumper of the garbage truck struck the driver’s side front of the Hyundai.

Neither driver was injured. Estimated damage for the Hyundai was $4,500. The Freightliner was not damaged.
