A job well done

Improved high school diamonds dedicated at ceremonies

Completion of improvements to the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn High School baseball and softball facilities and the contributions of those who made the upgrades possible were recognized in brief ceremonies on June 28.

The upgrades, which were begun in 2023, included new dugouts, new scoreboards, construction of new batting cages, construction of baseball bleachers and press box, new fencing around the baseball field, construction of home and visitor bullpen areas, new audio equipment for both fields, and sidewalks to all bleacher areas of the complex.

Individuals and groups recognized for their work and dedication to the project include school board members Scott Vollink, Kyle McCarter, Chad Lyman, Becky Stoltz and Kari Van Es, the H-M-S Athletic Booster Club, H-M-S P.i.e., H-M-S Music Boosters, P&S Electric and many other contractors.

During introductions by Athletic Director Mark Petersen, the district also extended thanks to the community, parents and students for their support of the project.

Youth baseball and softball players in the district were also invited to be part of the event and be on the diamonds during the ceremonies.
