Postseason baseball, softball pairings released

Pairings for district baseball and regional softball have been released by the Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

The first round of the Class 1A district baseball tournament is scheduled for Saturday, July 6. In Substate 1 District 2, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn plays MMCRU at Marcus, at 7 p.m. Kingsley-Pierson and Sibley-Ocheyedan also play at Marcus, starting at 5 p.m.

Winners of those games will play each other on Tuesday, July 9, at a site to be announced. The district final will be played on Saturday, July 13.

Teams in the top half of the District 2 bracket are Alta-Aurelia, GTRA, George-Little Rock and Westwood.

Class 2A Region 2 postseason softball tournament play opens Monday, July 8, with Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn taking on Emmetsburg, at Emmetsburg at 7 p.m.

The winner will play Sioux Central on Wednesday, July 10, at a site to be announced.
