A memorial gathering for Ronda Rae Roskens was held July 6, 2024, at the Spencer Area Activity Center in Spencer. Warner Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.
Ronda Rae Rice Roskens was born on Aug. 27, 1946, in Fairmont, Minn. to Bernice (Holtz) and Frank Rice, Jr. She lived in Trimont, Minn. until 1951, when the family moved to Spencer. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1965.
She married Del Roskens in 1966, spending the next 48 years on a farm north of Everly raising three children: Scott, Shane and Lindsay. They then divorced.
She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cooking, baking, playing cards, her many cousins and shopping with friends.
She was a foster parent to 18 children through the years. She kept track of all she could and stayed in many of their lives.
Ronda passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at her home in Spencer of Bulbar ALS Lou Gehrig Disease, at the age of 77. Preceding her in death were her parents; grandparents; brothers, Brent and Jeffrey; many special cousins, aunts and uncles.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Scott (Kari) Roskens, of Spencer; Shane Roskens, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Lindsay (Nate) Fitzgerald, of Spencer; her five grandchildren: Kalei (Landon) Joynt, Brandt (Sarah) Roskens, Alec (Sydney) Roskens, Morgan (Drake Allen) Fitzgerald and Lawson Fitzgerald; great-grandson, Canton Joynt; sister-in-law, Rosie Rice; two nieces and many cousins.
