• Accused of threatening to kill 2 people

Jedediah Olsen, 43, of Royal, was arrested on Aug. 17 following an incident that occurred near Francis Sites, southeast of Spirit Lake.

According to a complaint filed by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Olsen allegedly used a tire iron to shatter the windows of a vehicle while a female victim was inside. He is accused of threatening the woman and also another person who witnessed the incident.

Olson was charged with Going Armed with Intent, Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, Domestic Abuse Assault while Displaying or Using a Weapon-1st offense, Harassment-1st Degree, Criminal Mischief-2nd Degree, and Assault While Participating in a Felony. He was held in the Dickinson County Jail on $25,000 bond.

• Loses control of vehicle

Alexis Raul Sanabia-Manriquez, 18, of Storm Lake, was driving north on Nettle Avenue at 8:05 p.m. on Aug. 12 when she lost control of her vehicle. According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, the 2008 Honda Civic entered the west ditch, went through a fence and came to rest in a cornfield.

Sanabia-Manriquez was not injured. Damage to the Civic was estimated at $4,000. There was no estimate of damage for the fence and corn owned by Craig Wallin, of Paullina. The driver was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.

• Vehicle ends up in slough

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious person in the area of 390th Street and 300th Avenue on Aug. 12. The report stated that sometime overnight, Steven Bixby, 64, of Round Lake, Minn., had been backing a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country from a “Bridge Out” sign at a high rate of speed. The vehicle went into the east ditch, collided with a sign and proceeded into the Dan Green Slough wetland area.

Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $3,500, and damage to the sign was reported at $170. Bixby was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.

• Strikes animal in roadway

A 2013 Toyota RAV4 driven by Ronald Dale Pingel, 76, of Spencer, was westbound on U.S. Highway 18 at 9:08 p.m. on Aug. 14 when it struck a black Angus cow standing in the roadway. The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reported the animal had broken through a fence of a nearby pasture.

Pingel and Cynthia Sue Pingel, 67, of Spencer, were transported to Spencer Hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries. Damage to the Toyota was estimated at $20,000. The Angus cow, valued at $2,500, was removed by owner Randy Menke, of Hartley.
