Community Calendar dates due Sept. 5
The Community Calendar for the communities of Hartley, Melvin and May City will be distributed again this year. Clubs and organizations wishing to list their meeting dates are asked to bring or send them to The Sentinel- News office by Thursday, Sept. 5, at 5 p.m.
H-M-S school activities will also be listed. There is no charge to have meeting dates listed on the calendar.
When the calendars are printed, they will be available as a courtesy of the sponsors.

Red’s Catering in downtown Hartley will be serving a variety of specials on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Craft event at HPL
A craft event, “DIY Bookmarks,” will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Hartley Public Library. Create your own ladybug or bumblebee bookmarks out of glue and paper. Supplies are provided.
Bag tournament planned at HCC
The Hartley Community Center will host its annual Bags, Brews, Food Trucks, Too! event on Saturday, Sept. 21. Cost to compete is $30 per team.

HLC food pantry
Current hours for the food pantry at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly are Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m. Everyone is allowed to come in and pick out their food.
Early deadlines
Due to the Labor Day holiday, the deadline for all ad copy for next week’s Northwest Iowa Peach is Thursday, Aug. 29 (today) at 5 p.m.
The deadline for all submitted news and ad copy for next week’s Sentinel-News is Friday, Aug. 30 at 5 p.m.
Regular hours at Royal library
Hours at the Royal Public Library are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 3-5 p.m.; and Tuesday and Saturday, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Al Anon meetings
Al Anon meetings are held at the following locations each week:
Wednesday, 8 p.m., 511 Southmoor, Spencer; Thursday, 8 p.m., Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Royal; Sunday, 7 p.m., Sanford Medical Center, 118 N 7th Ave., Sheldon.
All are welcome to attend.
