Clay County Community Foundation to host grant writing workshop

Representatives of nonprofits, local government, schools and community volunteers are encouraged to attend a grant writing workshop hosted by the Clay County Community Foundation on Thursday, Oct. 10, 6:30 p.m. at the ISU Extension Center, 1515 W 18th St., Spencer.

The workshop is designed for those who are new to the world of grant writing or need a refresher. It will provide a thorough overview of the entire grant writing process, with an emphasis on the Clay County Community Foundation (CCCF) Simple, Standard and Impact Grants.

The grant application for the upcoming CCCF regular grant cycle will be highlighted and explained to participants. The grant season opens Nov. 15, 2024, and ends on Jan. 15, 2025. These grants are for new projects being implemented by nonprofits and public entities in Clay County. They are different from the Disaster Recovery Grants that CCCF has been able to provide to the community due to the flooding in June.

There is no fee to attend the workshop.

The program will be presented by Jane Goeken, retired ISU Extension and Outreach Community Development Specialist. She has extensive experience writing and reviewing grant applications and working with various federal, state, local and private foundation grant programs.

Clay County Community Foundation Executive Director Terri Batschelet will present information specific to the CCCF grants, explaining types of projects allowed, the different grants and information to include in the grant application.

Goeken will assist workshop participants by providing instruction and tips on planning projects and writing successful grant applications.

For more information about the workshop, contact Batschelet at [email protected].
