A funeral service in memory of Carole A. Kluender was held Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at the Everly United Church in Everly. Pastor Mike Eeten officiated. Burial was at Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. Warner Funeral Home in Everly assisted with the arrangements.
Carole Ann (Struve) Kluender, the daughter of Delmar and Shirley (Mortenson) Struve, was born Jan. 29, 1943 in Hartley. Her childhood years were spent in the Gillett Grove and Webb area where she received her education, graduating from Webb High School. After graduation, Carole’s family moved to Moneta. Carole then started a job at a little cafe in Hartley where she met the love of her life.
Carole married Robert “Bob” Kluender on June 23, 1963 in Hartley. After their marriage they moved to a farm outside of Hartley where they started their family, having five children. She became a stay at home mom until later on she started waitressing at Barb’s Corner, where she worked for 25 years until her retirement.
Carole was a member of the United Methodist Church in Everly. She was also a member of the Everly Lions Club and the Moose Lodge. In her spare time, Carole enjoyed reading, sewing, embroidering, playing cards/games, canning, watching her Twins and Timberwolves play, and most of all spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carole passed away on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Shannon Lee; her parents, Delmar and Shirley; her husband, Bob; and brother, Larry Struve.
Left to cherish her memories are her children: Robert “Rob” Kluender and his wife, Marty, of Spencer; Jodi Wimmer and her husband, Mike, of Spencer; Jason Kluender (Vicki), of Everly; and Val Johnson and her husband, Frayne, of Spencer; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Edith Erickson (Carl), of Albert City, and LuAnne Ginger (Ivan) of Sanborn; one brother, Delbert Struve (Donna), of Hartley; other relatives and friends.
