Several Hartley city officials recently attended a conference to learn about a vast array of issues affecting Iowa municipalities.
Council Members Matt Dolphin, Nick Galm and Mary Westphalen, along with City Administrator Roxann Swanson and Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Sheri Tewes, participated in the Iowa League of Cities 2024 Annual Conference & Exhibit in Sioux City Sept. 18-20. The group sat in on discussions covering topics like economic development, grant writing and more.
Hartley is a member of the Iowa League of Cities. Additional seminars of interest covered rural communities "shrinking smart," public relations and TIF.
The event was attended by nearly 500 officials from across the state representing cities from 200 people to 200,000. It focused on providing opportunities for elected and appointed officials from across Iowa to attend workshops that addressed current municipal opportunities to connect and learn from other cities.
