Festivities conclude Friday night on the gridiron

There's new royalty reigning over the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Community School District.

James Gellerman and Kamryn Ebel were named king and queen during coronation Tuesday night. The duo was selected from the 10-member Homecoming court by their peers.

Ebel, of Hartley, is the daughter of Korey and Jonna Ebel. She is involved in cross country, basketball, track, gymnastics, softball, band, jazz band, FCA and National Honor Society. She plans to go to college to major in child psychology.

Gellerman, of Hartley, is the son of Tonya and Cory Gellerman. He is involved in football and wrestling. After high school, he plans to get rich.

The crowning ceremony was the first big event of Homecoming week, which culminates Friday when the Hawks face archrival South O'Brien at Peterson Field at 7 p.m. A pep rally is set to begin Friday, Oct. 4 at 12:45 p.m., with the parade to follow at 2:15 p.m. in downtown Hartley. The community is invited to participate.
