Local trick-or-treating hours set in Hartley, Everly and Royal

Spooks, goblins and ghouls of all kinds will be out in full force next Thursday for Halloween.

Hartley, Everly and Royal will all hold trick-or-treating hours on Thursday, Oct. 31. Hartley and Everly will hold theirs from 5-7 p.m., while Royal's hours are scheduled from 5:30-7 p.m.

Additional activities are planned in Hartley prior to the door-to-door treat grab.

The Hartley Chamber of Commerce is planning a Halloween Trunk-or-Treat downtown next Thursday from 3:30-5 p.m. Local businesses are encouraged to hand out goodies to participants.

Kids will start at City Hall and go south, then cross the street and go north all the way to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where there will be activities and hot dogs for all.

Businesses should be set up by 3:15 p.m.

Prior to the big day on Oct. 31, several other Halloween-themed events are planned in all three communities. The Everly Public Library is hosting a costume party on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m., while the Royal Public Library is planning a costume parade on the same day at 9:45 a.m.

In Hartley, Trinity United Church of Christ is hosting Trunkity Treat on Sunday, Oct. 27 from 11 a.m-noon. Kids are invited to come dressed in their costumes with candy buckets. A meal will also be served.
