9 Hawks named to all-district football team

Nine players from Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn were named to the 2024 Class A District 1 all-district football teams.

Named to the first team were seniors James Gellerman, Damion Hansen, Jack Mastbergen, Slayton McCarter and Blake Meendering. Second-team selections were juniors Alex Billings and Ricky Smith, Jr. Honorable mention picks were junior Isaac Schierholz and freshman Jackson Vogt.

Junior Mattis Octmann, an exchange student from Germany, was tabbed for a special honor as the top placekicker in the district.

The 2024 selections are listed by school according to district finish and grade.
