Students encouraged to live up to NHS's 4 pillars
Twelve students were inducted into the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn High School chapter of the National Honor Society on Nov. 7.
Current NHS chapter members conducted the program, with Abby Douma giving the welcome. Explaining the meaning of the four pillars of the National Honor Society were Gracie Knobloch (scholarship), Lainie Raveling (service), Frankie Mohni (leadership) and Kamryn Ebel (character). They also presented certificates to the inductees, who were introduced by Megan Otto.
Eliza Tewes led the inductees in the pledge which says, "I pledge myself to seek the light of truth, to hold scholarly habits, to engage in worthy service, and to lead forward in all things that shall advance the welfare of my school and my life."
Chapter Advisor Ashley Tessum encouraged the inductees to live up to the pillars of the National Honor Society.
This year's inductees are seniors Damian Dodge, Natalie McDaniel and Skyler Shaffer, and juniors Natalie Daggett, Payton Diehm, Clara Funk, Jordan Lux, Isaac Schierholz, Eva Stammer, Evelyn Steffen, Lindsey Van Es and Lillian Van Loon.
