Ava Vogt competes at state swimming meet

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn freshman Ava Vogt helped represent the Spencer girls' swim team at the state competition in Marshalltown last week. She competed in two relay events, helping the Tigers to a 16th-place overall finish.

The Spencer 200-yard medley relay made up of Halle Sears, Ella Kasperbauer, Lilly Gross and Vogt placed 11th with a time of 1:54.04. The same quartet also competed in the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing 28th with a time of 1:45.61.

Thirty teams competed at the state event with Dowling Catholic taking home the title. Overall, the Tigers competed in six events.

H-M-S has a sharing agreement in place with Spencer for swimming, which allows local atheltes to participate there if they wish.
