Serving O'Brien & Clay Counties
The Clay Central/Everly second graders had a busy day on Dec. 6.
After caroling and reading at Community Memorial Health Center and Assisted Living in Hartley, they returned to Royal for their annual Winter Tea festivities at former CC/E teacher Lynn Cronk's home. The festivities began with each student making a lovely toast, followed by each showing off their well-practiced manners and enjoying delicious treats served by another familiar face, former CC/E teacher Lori Larson.
Students rounded off the afternoon by singing beautiful carols and Christmas classics with accompanist Sue Brugman. The "12 Days of Christmas" was a highlight at the end of the sing-a-long with each guest getting to sing a different day of the song.
The Mavericks were truly little ladies and gentlemen. Their manners were near perfection and shone beautifully throughout the day. From boys pulling out the girls' chairs to keeping their elbows off the table, students were minding their P's and Q's.
The final event of the day was gingerbread house-making with their families. Participants listened to Christmas classics while creating gingerbread house masterpieces with their loved ones and teachers.
