• Minor damage in collision
Minor damage was reported as a result of a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 3:27 p.m. on Dec. 18.
The O'Brien County Sheriff's Office reported that Ryan Dale Prins, 19, of Sheldon, was rounding a curve on Northwest Boulevard in a 1999 Jeep Cherokee and was, according to a witness and Prins, driving too fast for the conditions. He crossed black ice near the intersection with Highway 60 and failed to stop. Stephen Mark Heesen, 43, of Upsala, Minn., observed the Jeep enter the southbound lanes of Highway 60 and attempted to avoid colliding it with his 2016 Peterbilt.
No injuries were reported. Damage estimates were $2,000 for the Peterbilt and $400 for the Jeep. Prins was cited for Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device.
